cant for the life of me get the Garage Door entity to show up in has. Is this video outdated and i need to use the template helper from the ui? I've restarted has numberous times and the entity wont show up.

So the Full Kiosk Browser just uses a URL? I am looking to set up a couple Wall mounted tablets in the venue I work at, that will be running bitfocus Companion (which has its own url dashboard and is mainly URL/browser based).

I’m excited about AI controlling smart-home devices. However due to hallucinations and potential randomness of AI i can’t put it in charge of a wide variety of situations/automations. I found that the Choreography pattern helps a lot here. By creating small specialized automations that uses AI in a focused manner but is also able to communicate with other smaller specialized AI automations yield really great results but the biggest downside so far is you can burn through tokens if you’re not careful. 😅

it's a really great addition to assist, but my main concern is about data privacy, currently the only LLMs that works with the system are LLM that are on internet and not Local, I may install the system when we will be able to use local LLMs like Mixstral or Lama3

Geo you raise an interesting point. To make our automated homes truly smart we will need to go past the need to manually configure all the automations that we would like and cover all the possibilites that we can foresee. I suspect AI will have the capability to help us enable this. In the meantime whilst the technology is still in its infancy with would be sensible to restrict AI's control to non-critical items or have it prompt us to confirm the action it is recommending. However unless we engage with AI it is unlikely to progress in a way that we wish it to.

Do I get frustrated……. I’ll say this, I wanted to build an automated grow room, found a guy on GitHub “here’s a cookie cutter everything” material list, all the different yaml files, guaranteed to work…….. $2000 and 5 weeks later( like an actual 5 weeks, some night I don’t sleep I just keep trying to get it to work.) got everything all good except the esp config. Can’t tell you what’s wrong, I don’t know how to code, it’s a miracle I made it this far. Also at this point I took my pellet stove, oven, and microwave out in one epic 2 min freak out m, just thinking about whatever sick fucking asshole made home assistant. I then again I don’t know what THE FUCK I WAS EXPECTING!!! So yea, I get mad sometimes.

what about after adding to homekit, creating a "flag" binary switch in HA, bridging it to HK, then uppon opening/closing the actual sensor, you press the switch position to on/off. Thus you are able to view the state also in HA, but being very janky.

There are still a lot of simple things you can do in Homeseer that are just too much trouble to replicate in Home Assistant. One example is speaking entity values in automations using TTS. In Homeseer you can insert device values right from the GUI but in Home Assistant you have to drop out of the Visual Editor and use templating and complicated YAML code. This is especially frustrating if you are using Chimes to enhance you Home Assistant TTS messages since all the nice drop down feature menus blow up as soon as you need to insert an entity value or state into the message. I actually use an integration that lets me pass any Home Assistant values that need to be spoken to Homeseer to be announced from there as that is way easier than dealing with the rudimentary TTS functions in Home Assistant. Another example is that Home Assistant has no simple duration counters that count up from zero to let you track the total run time/on time of a device. In Homeseer it takes 30 seconds to define a timer and maybe 2 minutes to set up an automation to start or pause the timer based on state changes of an entity, and all using drop down menus in the visual event editor. You could spend hours learning about helpers and templates and "time_now" functions in Home Assistant and still not get this simple automation working. It always amazes me how Home Assistant can be so good at cutting edge technology like local voice assistants or AI, yet be so backward in simple common sense features like these.

It is not clear to me how you connect the AP to a router as the router may or may not have a PoE jack. The other part of your video is a bit confusing. One thing I can tell you is that requesting a static IP from an ISP in my area cost more money than if my ISP serves me a variable IP to my home.

Been wanting to redo my dashboard for a while. This pushed me to do it. I had a LOT of my devices on my main page, but pushed that page to the second and created a new main. That one has the things that we use most often such as Nest Thermostats, Glances for important sensors, good night routines, blinds, and main audio controls. Thanks for the tutorial. It was definitely helpful!

Hello, good video! I have a switch Lite-16-PoE and AP U6+. When I connect port 15 switch to ISP router, I haven´t internet on any port. If I connect router to port 1 then I have internet, but only on ports 1 to 8, but ports 9 to 16 haven´t internet output. I can't have internet on all ports. Regards
